I know this may be simple but is there a small programme to tell me what format a dvd vob files etc are recorded in, pal or ntsc? e.g 23fps or 29fps
i have a disc set that i know are ntsc, i used nero re-code to copy them to my hard drive but i need to check if it has copied them as ntsc, original, or re encoded to pal, i cant seem to find an answer on here anywhere,
i have seen programmes like gspot, avicodec, but these only work for avi and dat or mpeg files, there must be a way for dvd and vob files, isnt there?
thanks all

latest gspot beta works with vob files.

Hello,
Dvd players like powerdvd will show that information on mpg and vob files. Just click on configuration I think and it will show you frame rate, pal/ntsc, sound etc... Try out a few and I think you'll find one that gives what you need.

Load it into recode and check the info tab. It will tell you all you need to know. Recode does not do format conversion. It is a simple transcoder. If it was NTSC, it is still NTSC. All it will allow you to do is stripp out the unnecessary, and shrink the size.

Thanks guys
i read on here that converting it from ntsc to pal is not as straight forward as i thought, i presumed, daft of me i know nero recode meant just that, it would recode to pal like nero vision does, i could load it into nerovision but it will loose the menu that the disc has.
as the disc has 3 episodes and the menu is designed for the episodes i would like to keep them,
is there a way (easy) to just copy the dvd contents to the hard drive and convert to pal format?
or would i need to re make the menu and do it with nerovision.
thanks all for your help
