Each time it happened with different movies. I was encoding to CVD using VBR. I have read that it may be because I was running low on hard drive space, but I had 2GB free. It didn't even make an MPG file, so I had to start the process all over again from the beginning. Is the 2GB not enough or is there a bug in the program?

I figured out what the problem was, and it wasn't very obvious. It was the hard drive space issue but indirectly. On my PC, I have drives C, D, and E. I targetted my output file to E drive which lots of space, but TMPGEnc's temp file was pointing to C drive which didn't.
For those who might have this problem in the future, go to the "Options" menu, Environmental Settings, and change the Temporary File location to a drive with enough disk space. -
thank you i think you just fixed my problem whenever i tried to convert from mpeg1 to mpeg 2 id get an error and i think it was this one.
