I saw meritline had a 100 4x for $23.00 Is this worth buying or are these crap? Any reviews? They also had BeAll 4x 50 pack for $21.99. I've heard these are good. Would they be a better buy?

    I've not tried them ... but I don't think I'd buy them.

  3. I believe I'd request a few samples first. Boggles the mind how cheap media is becoming.

  5. I recently bought 50 Maxell TYG01's for about $40.00 .... thats about the cheepest I would go for media... no sense spending time encoding, authoring and burning only to have the media go bad tomorrow or next week.

There are several places selling really cheap discs these days. Last week I picked up 100 DVD-R discs for $24.30 shipped. These are the "MUST 001" discs which seem to be about the same as the "YI JHAN" which seem to be about the same as the "LONGTEN 001". All 3 brands burn fine in my Nec 2500a and my Pioneer 106, and they read back quite well in any of my computer drives. But all 4 of my settop players have trouble with these discs -- pausing, freezing, etc.

These discs are excellent for computer backups, but not good for movie backups.

The Prodisc S03 seem to be about the cheapest media for reliable movie backups.
