Tmd or smr avi's?

I have downloaded some movies with tmd and some with smr in the titles.

Everytime I download one to watch all I get is a black screen? Someone suggested me trying a smr patch but still had no luck.

Can someone help me to watch these avi's?

I am running win xp with media player 9.

Those are illegal, shitty-looking (and often, playing) bootlegs.

If the movie is available on DVD, get it. Then you don't worry about conversion or play issues.
If it is still out at the theater, check it out during a (lower cost) matinee. Trust me, $5-$8 with nice seats + big screen + surround sound beats the HELL out of those shitty cam captures.
