let me start by saying i already know how to (and have) converted NTSC to PAL. the question i have is as follows:

the resolution of the NTSC footage is 352 x 240 i am converting it to PAL 352 x 288. when i convert do you want to keep the aspect ratio (adding a black line to the top and bottom of the footage) or do i want to strech it to full screen? i ask this becouse i found it very interesting when i played the footage in my dvd player (PAL) it streched it to full screen.

so when i convert it which is going to have it at the correct ASPECT RATIO? adding the black bars to the top and bottom so the ACTUAL footage stays at 352 x 240 or making it full screen so the actual footage is 352 x 288?

    thanx

I believe 352 x 288. This is how I do it at least...

It is not exactly a problem...
Most NTSC stuff are became interlace after a proccess, called 3:2 pulldown.
So, when your source is NTSC at 29.97 you can remove this proccess, with something called inverse telecine and change the framerate to 23.97fps. Then you boost this at 25 fps and at the same time, you resize it.
That way, you have no problems at all with motion, or whatever.

That doesn't work only on one scenario: Your source was a true interlace NTSC at 29.97fps. Sports or older TV Series have this problem
