I have bought a couple of boxes of Shintaro brand DVD-Rs.
    http://www.shintaro.com.au/
It turns out that they show up on the PC as Princo. One box even had Princo of the disc's centre.

I'm planning on buying an Epson R210 Disc printer.

They have a plain white surface on the label side but it's quite shiny so I'm not sure if this is still a printable surface.

    Any ideas ?

    Thanks

  2. Cant say for certain from their site but the old pinco's i have here that a printable have a matt surface to them, pretty much all printables are a matt surface. Best bet would be to ask the store if they are but my 10p would be they arnt....
Also my take on Pinco's is while they burn well they do not last the distance after 6 months mine are uncopyable and playback is poor.... Better off sticking to another brand. Like Riteks or TY's.
    Not bothered by small problems...

  3. Yes, Shintaro is indeed Princo... I take it that you bought it from JB HiFi??

Please avoid Princo and Laser if you can....

I just spoke with a Shintaro a dealer listed on Shintaro's site. They said the box now states 'inkjet printable' but the discs themselves haven't changed.

    Yeah, got them rom JB.
I'd love to stick with TDK's but they are nearly $3 a pop. They might be printable as they have a satiny finish with only a tiny marking around the outer edge.
I'd like to try and go with a decent quality disc that is inkjet friendly but also not too expensive. Hell, wouldn't we all.

    Well, try www.digicity.com.au

I believe their Ritek are older batches, therefore, it's of decent quality...

    Got some great prices.
How does the Ridata G04 differ from the Ritek ?

So, the G04's are a safe option over the TDK's ?

    Thanks
