I'm new to this stuff and just when i think i've got it i don't.I am trying to make a vcd to play on my DVD player.I have a Oritron 100 which I read was tempermental as to brand of cdrw it will read.I have used the TMPGEnc to convert my avi file to MPEG.I have used Nero (version 5.5.3) to burn my vcd.I have tried the different templates and am getting lost. Some of my burns will play back on my computer.I think those are the ones i've made into MPG1.I think it is the MPG2 (svdc maybe?) that won't play on my computer due to lack of something.I guess my main question is...should I be able to watch the vcd on my computer to know i've burned it correctly and it's my DVD player that isn't reading it?(and i need a pioneer or something) Any help would be greatly appreciated! It's so frustrating to feel so close and not be able to get it right!
    Thanks a bunch,
    Robbie

  2. Yes, you are correct. Most standalone DVD players can play VCDs, but it's more of a 'media' question. SVCD may well be a different story. I suggest you check the DVD Players compatibility list on the left, as it will tell you which players can read CDR, or CDRW, and/or SVCD.
