  2. can someone tell me how to edit idx and (.sub in rar file)?

the .idx have timestamp info that is not in sync with the movie. Anyone know how to sync it to movie? None of the programs like subadjust, subtitle workshop, etc seems to deal with editing the idx timestamp information to account for the sync issue.

Hi. I was looking fro the same thing yesterday and I found the answer myself.

Using SubResync that comes with vobsub istallation you can open the idx and edit manually the first and last line to your desired times.
Then click as many times needed so that the icon in the first line you edited becomes a downwards looking arrow and an upwards for the last.
Then save under a different name and you're done

Make sure you have the .sub extracted and not in .rar form.

To get the right timings you will need to either listen to your video carefully noting down when the first and last line are spoken or if it is about framerate conversion you can scetch up a mini .srt with the first and last times as in the .idx and then use your favourite sub program to change the framerate, noting the new timings.

Vobsubs come quite handy when making a DVD as they transform painlessly into .sup (IfoEdit subtitle input) using the program SubToSup.

    /side note/
If you have problems with SubResync not properly opening the .idx, reduce the lenth of the path.
To do that, bring the the pair of files to a dir close to the program (I use the same directory) and cut the names down to a small word.
