Burn iMovie to Set-Top DVD Recorder

Hi Everyone: I would like to ask whether it's possible to burn a movie I created with iMovie 3 to a set-top dvd recorder with a firewire link. Examples of dvd recorders include the Lite 5005 and the Pioneer series. I know the usual route is to go from iMovie 3 to iDVD 3. However, I'm trying to backup basketball and football games I have on VHS tapes. The games are always over the 90 minute limit for even iDVD 4. Has anyone successfully burned an iMovie from a G4 Mac to a set-top DVD recorder? Let me know. Thanks.
