I just used TMPGEnc Xpress to convert some of my WMV files into mpeg-2 files. Now I did this with the intention of burning the mpeg-2 ntsc files onto dvd’s. I seem to be missing some aspect of what I am supposed to do. When using TMPG it looks like it splits the audio (mpeg-1) and video (mpeg-2) but I end up with one mpeg file. I used the search function of the website and found nothing under mpeg to dvd. I realize I am probably missing something easy. I have nero 6 and dvd decrypter. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also I have some understanding of burning DVD's, I have been making backups using dvd shrink and nero express.
To anyone who truly understands this I am sure it is readily apparent in my wording that I am new to this, so be nice please.![]()

Seems that is't now time to "Author" your MPEG files to DVD files. Look under "Tools" on the left side. There are many choices. If I have read correctly, can't NERO 6 author DVDs? I personally use DVD-Lab for authoring, but again, there are many choices.
just a thought

Nero 6 cannot aouthor DVDs.
I use TMPGenc DVD Author , it has a 30 day fuly functional trial.#
Authoring means you can create menus chapters etc if you wish and also creates a DVD menu structure. The output is a Video_TS folder which you can burn with Nero 6. -
Thanks to everyone for the help, especially AndyP1. I had tried using Nero already to no avail which is why I posted the question. TMPGenc DVD Author works great I am either going to bust out all of my WMV files in the trial period or just buy the thing. Simple to use with the Afonic tutorial and user friendly for those of us that are new to the game.
Thanks to everyone on this site for getting me up to speed on backing up my DVD’s and authoring/burning my WMV files.

Good news glad it helped you.
Have a look at this page
https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=2#2
It list all the different Authoring software available .
The more popular ones I think are TMPGenc DVD Author , DVD Lab , Sonic My DVD and ULead DVD Movie Factory2 (there is now a 3 as well)
Most of these have trials so you could try others to see how you get on with them. I found TDA and like it and can see no reason for me to change to anything else at this point , other people will have found DVD Lab better and so forth.
It's very subjective and people will have opinions good and bad about all of them , but it's a case of finding one you can learn and use easily and is within budget.
Also have a look at the manufacturers websites ie Pegasus for TDA and Ulead and you will get more screenshots and descriptions and maybe special offers. -

You've converted to MPEG2-basically DVD format. Now you need to get it on to a DVD disc!
Before you can do that you need to create a VIDEO_TS folder and an AUDIO_TS folder (which will be empty anyway).
I simply use TMPGEnc DVD Author. Really easy program to use.
1. 'Create New Project'
2. 'Add File'. If joining several files, then click 'Add File' again.
3. 'Chapter Cut edit'-this will insert chapters and also allow you to trim off any unwanted intro or ending by selecting 'Set as Start frame' and 'Set as End Frame'. Once done, click OK.
(If you want a menu at the beginning of your film/project then make sure that the drop down menu under 'Firstplay action' is set to 'display main menu'. Otherwise the menu will be written at the end of your film.)
4. Click 'create menu'. This is optional.
5. Click 'Output'-select your output folder. Click 'Begin Output'.
6. All done. 4.7GB disc takes my machine about 20-25 mins max. The folders will be created and the 'Writing Tool' window will automatically load if you wish to burn there and then.
On the rare occasion that your file is over 4.7GB, click 'Ignore' within TMPGEnc DVD Author when creating your folders-it will prompt you. Once done, use DVD Shrink to resize.
Hope this helps.
