  1. Hello

Im looking to see if anyone understands applescript well enough to know if it is possible to set up a script that will take various individual QT movie files in a folder and export them individually to another place, say another HD or folder with a different compression ( same compression result for all, same file type to start).

I have many QT.mov files from my AlchemyDVR card that Id like to recompress to mp4's. but it takes about 20 min to do a 20 min file on my G$ dual 1 gz.

Id like to do them at night, say, go to this folder, take each file individually, export it to <here> as a QT.mp4

this would save me doing it manualy.

    any ideas?

  3. Well Serbian,

thanks for the tip. I downloaded it and it seemed to be just the thing!

I put two QT files in a folder, made a destination folder, and my settings to mp4, and start, but nothing happend and it said done very quickly.

if there was a way I could get it to work it would be great.

    any ideas?

The best solution is Compressor, an Apple app that comes with Final Cut and DVD Studio Pro. BEU does look like a good alternative if you can get it working. Thanks for the link, Serbian.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  5. I got some expect help from the folks at BEU and it works fine AS LONG as your source and destination are on the same partition it seems.

I tried to move files from one HD to another via the recompression and that did not work.

the utility is great. I do all my changes from my Alchemy DVR at night and turn 1.4 GB files into 200MB files.

they work fine for my purposes.
