  1. Right I have just moved house and strangely the missus has let me convert one of the rooms into a home cinema, I am not exactly sure why she has let me do this and to tell you the truth I am expecting to be hit up for something in the near future.

It is about half way finished, the problem is is that there is an old couple next door and this gear is right next to their master bedroom

She has said that I can use it as long as I keep it turned down.

Like that has a ******* chance of happening, honest

TV looks a little low, and those rear speakers are just silly! Plus i'd get some decent blinds!

  4. Tv is fine for the seating position, the blinds I am afraid are a condition, they do not block the sun at all, I want black ones. All of the front windows of the house have the same blinds in and she loves them.

hmm. couldn't you fit black blinds behind the crappy - uh.... i mean, lovely wooden ones?

I guess i'm just used to a high tv/speaker setup because i'm stuck with all the kit in my bedroom. It's nice to see someone using decent speakers, rather than 5 bean tins and a sub. do you have a sub behind the sofa as well? wouldn't have thought you need one. trying to identify the DVD player, is it an older Sony model?

Put some room darkening (pull down) shades 'behind' the wooden ones. That will help any glare coming in.

Obviously no kiddies in the house yet... DTS Receiver or Surround Sound

  7. Nice. With the 2nd pic, why are your LS & RS so close to your CSL & CSR?
and where is the 1st & 2nd sub?

Other than that... I'll be over with the popcorn and my copy
of Barry Manilow's Greatest Hits (DTS-EX version)

If you really want to honk off the fogies next door, add a couple of 15" amplified subs and leave your windows open

Thankfully I don't have this issue. But it basically boils down to how big of an ******* you are willing to be.

Personally the statement "she said I can use it as long as....." just somehow brings a response of "**** you" to the tip of my tounge. Is she the landlord? If not...**** her and her permission.

Good point. She can't get you busted for disturbing the peace until after a certain time, like 10:30pm. If it's before that there's nothing she can do except move.

Then again, if you read the first post, you see that Russ said "the missus" said he can use the setup if he keeps the volume down.

I don't think he wants to try a "**** you, you ain't the landlord" with her.

    Cheers,

    George

tekkie - Well said, and your damn right

Offline - room is not wide enough to split the speakers, there is a chimney breast going through the left side of the room, but if i split the speakers one will be in an alcove and my sound stage will suck. The first sub is just in front of RF and my amp cannot do thx ultra 2 (wish i was allowed to buy one of them). Come over for The Haunting DTS-ES, shite film but the sound is the best

DVD Ripper - That is the problem, nothing behind the blinds as all the others at the front of the house would look crap, so I am stuck with what I have got. Amp does everything apart from THX Ultra

flaninacupboard - The player is a Denon 2900, dvd audio, SACD and pal ntsc progressive scan. Best player I have ever owned (and the most expensive). I see why you think its an older model because it is so big.

yeah, £670, quite a bit to drop considering you can buy a player in safeways for £30!
Didn't think it was old because of the size, just looked like sony styling but couldn't see a current model like it. i prefer larger players anyway, those slimline things just look silly to me. i just bought a sony dvp-ns930, pretty much same spec as yours on paper. only got a 32" wide CRT at the moment, looking forward to a nice projector when i've got the space.

Nah, evictiing his ass for that statement would go straight to Beavereater's thread where some of you said she don't give me none tonight, I won't give her none when she wants it.

Tit for tat. She doesn't like for the music to annoy the neighbors, or you ain't gettin' none, well, next week, you ain't gettin' none.

4 fingers and a thumb, see you tomorrow. Boss? BS!

    Cheers,

    George
