im having a problem with ffmegX. Im trying to encode an AVI file to DVD(Video TS). I follow all the steps in the guide correctly, but it always fails. the error message says "error while opening file." It plays just fine in quicktime, and this isnt the only file it does this with. any tips?

Sounds like your not setting the paths "from" and "to" correctly. Do this first before choosing the presets. The program has incorrect directions.
You could also try (apolgies to Major) MPEG2 WORKS, seem to go well with AVI types. :oops:

VIDEO: DIVX, size: 352x256, 29.971 fps, 1330 kbps. AUDIO: mp3, 48000Hz, 96 kbps
the fiel is saved in my movies folder and im savign to the desktop.

it never even gets started. This comes up right after i hit Encode.
