TMPGenc Crashes

can soemone PLEASE help me..
I'm trying to convert an mpg file to vcd
(used to do it all the time ) I had to format hard drive and now everytime I go to convert...tmpg freezes.
I get as far as 70% to 99% completed..I've tried many different versions on TMPGenc and none seem to work for me anymore.
I've also uncompressed the audio..
If anyone has any suggestions or different programs
I can try and use (except panasonic..there trial for video
is only 30 seconds and I seem to go 2 hours with TMPG before it crashes) I would really apreciate it.
I've been trying to fix this problem for quite a while now

well tell me your exact error message.

If its just freezing, then u have bad frames in your video srouce and\or your priorities are set wrong according to what you are doing on the computer at the time of encoding

after about 2 hours or so TMPGenc just freezes..then I get a blue screen
that reads "page fault in VMM---"
I don't have anything else running while TMPG is up..
I make sure everything else is off..
I also have TMPG to take high priority when active
???
I just don't get it.. I used it all the time prior to a hard drive format???
Do you know of any other software I can try?
