  1. Got this Indy Film DVD (Region 1-6) I'm trying to backup w/ DVDDecrypter. I'm not sure if the disk is encrypted or not cuz it causes DD to continously crack the CSS key and then hang at 99% completion in ISO mode. This disk has two *.LAY files in the VIDEO_TS folder which I've never seen. Guessing maybe that's the reason? The files are: GBNF.LAY & VOB_DATA.LAY; they're both some sort of binary files since they show gibberish in Notepad.

This is part of the log I get upon loading the disk:

    W 06:32:59 Cracking Disc Key... (00 00 00 00 00) (Note: This can take a long time!)
    W 06:33:10 Possible Disc Key: FA 71 DF 21 D3
    W 06:33:10 Using Disc Key: FA 71 DF 21 D3

    Any ideas?

  3. Thanx for the info. Looks like the disk insn't encrypted since I can view the contents in Windows Explorer on either of my computers w/o opening any playback software. Any ideas then on how to make an ISO from it? DVDDecrypter is obviously getting confused and WinISO won't work, either.

If DVD DEcrypter cannot skip over them when making an ISO then I suggest ripping it in file mode, then adding an audio_ts folder and using a program to turn it into an ISO. It should be fine that way.
