I use a Pioneer DVR-107D burner and I burn with Nero. The DVDs that I use are Prodisc (Pioneer certified DVDs). I usually don't have any issues with burning with Nero 6.3 but there are times when the program crashes on me. The burning gets to 99% and stops responding completely. I would have to end the program and then I wouldn't be able to open my burner and I tried to eject the DVD manually and with the command in explorer but nothing works so I restart. I check the DVD and everything seems fine but I don't like the fact that Nero crashes and my DVD doesn't respond after that until I restart. Does anyone have this problem with Nero and would this have any harm to my DVD burner?

Not sure if this relates but I also have a CD burner by Sony in my comp and I can never burn CDs w/o Nero crashing with the Sony burner so I use NTI instead and NTI has never crashed on me. Is Nero 6 just really bad or is it just me?

What version of NERO are you currently using? You may want to try upgrading to the latest version which is 6.3.1.10
How is your Pioneer burner hooked up in your pc? Is it on the same IDE as your Sony CDRW? Or is it hooked up on the same IDE as your HARD DRIVE? It could also be a software or hardware conflict.

    I actually have 6.3.0.2

The pioneer is hooked up on the same IDE cable as the sony burner. The Pioneer is the master and Sony is the slave. Do you think this would be the problem? Should I try authoring with NTI then?

Try upgrading to the latest NERO. The 2 drives on the same IDE is fine. I would suggest upgrading to the latest NERO then use a DVD REWRITABLE DISC and see if you still get the same problem. Defragging your "C" drive before burning also helps. One last suggestion is to uninstall NTI and then use NERO and burn something on a DVD REWRITABLE DISC. You may want to also post your question at the PIONEER forum at cdfreaks.com

Ok I will do that then. But this problem doesn't always occur, just like once in every 6 burns or something. Also would upgrading firmware for my burner help? I basically just bought it and connected it into my comp and I have yet to upgrade any firmware.

Upgrading the firmware is another good option. Are you using official Pioneer firmware or a hack firmware?

Well if I do download the firmware, I would download the one from the pioneer website directly. I haven't upgraded any firmware yet for the burner so I guess it's still a DVD burner virgin?

The short answer: Nero v6.x is bug-ridden.

Downgrade to v5.x and see how that works for you. Version 6 is too flaky and does not add enough in the way of features to warrant the coasters.

    ok will do then

I remember using 5.5 before and it was great! No probs at all!

I just hope 5.5 will be able to read my burner though. Eh so, should I complete uninstall nero 6.3 and then do a fresh install of 5.5 or is it ok to leave both on the comp?

  10. I used NERO 6.3.1.10 and I have a Pioneer 107-D too. I didn't like when y updated to thes version, because it is slow when read the source disk and it rejected me serial number. I suggest you have to use version 6.0.0.0, the most reliable.

yea I totally hate that, well I downgraded to 5.5.10.42 now so I will run this and see if my burner likes it.

  14. I hope your writer works well with it.....

i think the nero version im using is 5.5.10.50. this is a nasty glitch in the sofware when it does happen.
i might try & move away from nero altho it has always been fine for most things i burn...

i thought it must of just been my computer at first but for it to happen to sum one else it must be a flaw in nero

  15. I had a problem like that before (Nero 6.3.0.2). What I did was disable hyperthread in bios then problem has gone so far. I am not sure in your case, you may give it a try to see if it help.

Same thing happens to me. Since yesterday I use this Pioneer DVR-107D. There is something else to, in combination with Nero 6316. I wonder if others have this experience:
Trying to burn an image, Nero can't find the DVD-drive... I wonder if this is a Nero bug or a Pioneer bug. Or perhaps something else.

I prefer making images before burning the final product. For DVD-drives Nero has a split choise for (let's say) the Pioneer dvr 107 cd/r/rw drive and the Pioneer dvr 107 dvd/r/rw drive. But when I insert the (virtual) Nero DVD image there is no option for the dvr 107D dvd/r/rw as being the destination drive.

Therefore I burn the image to dvd with help of Alcohol 120%. But I do want to know the cause of this problem.

I give up with Nero 6x

I know it won't work for my Sony burner and had trouble with Pioneer and those are like the 2 big names so if Nero 6x won't cooperate with them then Nero 6.x goes and not my burners
