I recently had a lightning strike that took out my tv, dvd player, tivo, phone lines , and partially damaged my A/V receiver. My E-80 does not appear to be effected. The only thing strange that is happening is when I record off the E-80 to a VCR or from the E-80 back to itself. The tv screen starts flickering and goes to a real bright white color and the noise from the tv gets steadily louder. Once you start recording to your source it seems to do fine and the recording comes out ok. Do you think there might be some problem from the lightning strike that I need to get checked out? Everything else on the recorder seems to function normally.
I hadn't recorded to a vcr or back to itself prior to this, so I don't really know if it was doing this before or not.
Any ideas or anybody ever seen this?

Happens to me too, but it was macrovision copy protection. My vcr is immune to it, but kept the signal when it copied back to a dvd.
