  1. I've been checking out motor cycle prices in Denmark, supposedly one of the cheapest places in Europe to buy a car/bike. Should be much cheaper than rip-off Britain, I thought. Typical Danish price I could find for a YZF-R1 is "240.000" Danish Kronas. Now exchange rate is currently 11.2 Krona for 1 GBP (see here) Now divide "240.000" Krona price by 11.2 and you get £21,428 GBP, which is 3 times the price you'll pay for a YZF-R1 in the UK!! . Am I doing my sums wrong, or what?

But that's 3 times the price you'd pay in rip-off Britain. Denmark is suppose to be one of the cheapest countries for bikes/cars. It doesn't add up.

The point is, I've been assured it is 'greener' in Denmark, atleast for bike/car prices.

So is it only 'millionaires' who own their own car/bike, in Denmark? So if I ask a Danish dealer for an "export price", I should see the price drop 70%? Or pay the full whack and claim 70% tax back when it's exported to Britain? I'm going off this idea rapidly.....

Well now you've had it confirmed it isn't

No, the only thing confirmed is how very expensive it is for Danes. Depending on the percentage of tax, and how easy it is to claim back, I could still be saving money. More UK parallel car/bike imports come from Denmark than any other country, so there’s got to be something in it. I’d like to hear from anyone who knows what percentage is tax and how easy it is to claim back.
