  1. I went to buy a dvd player the other day and came across a vcr/dvd combo at "cash converters" (a pawn shop type place)...

it was a sansui vrdvd 4005...

the person there who sets the prices obviously didn't know what he was selling, because the price was $59.99, I gladly purchased it and practically ran out of the store...

    a couple problems have arisen...

    1. I have no manual and need to learn how to set the unit to play tapes and discs on tv ch4 instead of tv ch3 (I know on vcrs you set it to ch3 or ch4 on the tv, is this the same, and if so, how do you set it to ch4?)...

    2. I found a universal remote that I can use to do everything except dub tape to dvd (no dubbing button), is there a universal remote that has a dubbing button...? and I'm not talking about a $50 remote (I could buy the sansui 4005 remote for that much)...

    3. my memorex dvd-rws are not formatting at anything but the 2 hour mode even though I have gone into the setup and tried to set it up to record at 4 or 6 hour mode, is it just a problem with the dvd brand or is there a problem...?

    again, please help...

That's why it was cheap, the guy who stole it forgot to get the remote.
If you were in Australia you could try Dick Smith.

  3. You're best bet is ebay. You'd be surprised what you can find there.

Oh the joys of buying incomplete equipment from cash converters.
    When will people ever learn.

Try Sears, they are listed as selling that model and may be able to help you with a remote and manual.

  6. The remote can be found on Sears parts site for about $14.00 The manual can also be found on the site, but from what I have read elsewhere, it's a photocopy. Some people on e-bay will sell you a photocopy of the manual as well.

Last DVD player I bought was on Ebay for $0.99 ($12.00 shipping)

Somehow I don't believe $59.99 is cheap at a pawn shop
That guy was laughing while you were running.

the difference is that it is a DVD recorder, not just a DVD player...

good luck finding one on E-Bay or anywhere else for less that $150...

so I guess you wouldn't pay $7,000 to buy a $28,000 car with no tires because you would have to purchase new tires...?
