Hi all,
I bought a DVD Recorder about 6 months ago and am thinking of buying a second one. I have finished putting all my videos on DVD and was trying to think of a way of getting rid of video all together.
What I do at the moment is record something on video and then copy it from my video to DVD, editing out ads and so on. I would like to be able to record on DVD and then copy it to another DVD and in so doing edit out the ads like I normally would do.
Here is the thing. I would want to reuse the DVD that I orginally recorded something on after I had finished editing it and copying it to another DVD. The DVD Recorder I have at the moment only supports DVD-R and I cannot delete or wipe the DVD and reuse it when I am using this machine. I have noticed that there are DVD Recorders out now in my price range that use DVD-RW. Would it be possible on one of these machines to record something from television onto a DVD-RW, copy and edit it to a DVD-R using the other DVD Recorder and then wipe the contents of the DVD-RW and reuse that DVD at some other time.
Of course it would be easier to buy a DVD Recorder with GB upon GB to store stuff on until I edit onto a DVD-R. But alas I don't have that kind of cash at the moment. Would I be able to achieve what I want to acheive if I buy another DVD Recorder that supports DVD-RW?
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply!
Andy.

I have 2 recorders myself. I have the LiteOn 5001 (retired) and the new Pioneer DVR-220-s. It records to -RW. If there is a show I wish to remove the ads from, I record in -VR mode. The built-in editing funtions are fantastic and fast. Once it's edited, I personally take it to my PC where I convert it to DVD-Video. In your case, you could simply play the edited file to your other recorder and be done with it.
Editing on the Pioneer means that I don't have to sit there and press pause on the second recorder whenever ads come up. I would highly recommend the Pioneer, as-well-as the editing on disk. It's very fast.
Cheers,
TJDLDW 5001, Nov 2003. Pioneer DVR-220-s, May 2004. Haup PVR-250 (2) Ver. 15 + 16. Slowpoke P4 1.8Ghz, 500 gig . Dish DVR-510 - 100 hrs. DirecTV RCA. DLP HD HT Projector at 170 Inches Diag. Tivo Gen. 1 with 180 hours
