  1. Hi,

I am looking at some Ritek Tangos - they are cheaper than notmal G04s and are grade A media. Apparently, they may contain overprints, what does this mean in terms of DVD recording quality,

    Kind regards,

    Chris (UNSRM)

As I understand it, that means that they are the discs that did not meet Ritek quality assurance and were sent to be repackaged and sold cheaper. I could be wrong.

  3. no,they are all overprints,the orange ones,and the purple ones(+R) format.
they are all reject dvds, not very good at all.
they used to have a scenic print on them, but were printed over.
most of the dvd-r stockists will sell them, but they contain no guarantee, like w*w.blancdiscshop.co.uk.
they sell them, but if you get them and there scratched or have imperfections on the dye, then theres no comeback,no return.
i bought 25 of them and had nothing but bother with them, failing to write and the dye marks on them were terrible, and i also got burn spots as well,as some of them obviously didnt have enough dye on them.

    STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

  4. Thats very interesting... I contacted UKDVDR as I thought the same as you and they replied:

"I am not sure what or current stock are, they may also contain overprints.

An overprint is when a disc was previously printed wih a different design, then reprinted again.

This does not affect the recording or playback of the disc."

The Landscape discs (which are graded and overprints and also orange) are clearly labled on the website, interesting. The tangos seem different.

    Any other thoughts?

    Hi
I have used many 100s of the tango overprint from SVP with no problems what so ever, these are labeled grade A media with ritek GO4 dye, in fact most of them are no longer a overprint. However there are some tango ones that are a overprint but these are not A grade ( i believe they have a mountain scene on them ) and yes you will have a lot of problems with them. SVP clearly states they do not give any guarantees with these disks.
life's a shit sandwich and everydays a bite

  6. Interesting - UKDVDR don't mention overprints in their Tangos. Whereas their landscape ones are clearly labeled.
I think I'll use the BulkPaq Prodisc instead
