Not sure which forum to put this in, or if you guys even answer this type of question, but video is video, right? If you guys don't cover this kind of question, please direct me to a forum that does. Thanks.

Here's the question:

I have a client who owns a film production company who wants to show short films and feature films that his company produces on his company's website in a pay-per-view type setup. They would just be in a certain section of his company's website. He mentioned something about WSD, which stands for Web Self Distribution, but I have not heard of that, nor did I find anything on it when I googled it.

Here are my questions:

1. Has anyone heard of WSD? If so, is it the best way to go for the desired setup?

2. Is there a better technology for this type of setup?

3. Is it even possible/practicle to have a feature film that is 1.5 hours in length shown on the Internet?

4. What would be the best resolution/dimension of the screen/window so that it would still be of good quality, but not be cost prohibitive?

5. What programs would be needed to encode it? Could I use Premiere or Quicktime Pro, or would it entail an expensive software that is made specifically for this type of setup?

6. What company would be best to go through with regards to processing the credit card payments for the pay-per-views when taking into account functionality, reliability, and trustworthiness?

7. If you have some helpful links, I would like to check out those as well.

NOTE: We are talking mainstream films here, people. Don't get any funny ideas.
