  1. on sale at OD for $59.99 after $20 rebate and $20 instant off. QUESTION...is this a BenQ or NEC 2500a drive?
NOTE: it might be a BTC unit also from what I read on this forum. OD states it burns BOTH + and - at 8x though. BTC does not.

    discount...

  2. Dont buy it...I had an I/O drive die on me the minute I tried to burn a DVD-RW...AT 1X NO LESS!!! It was sketchy at reading media. The Ritek G04 were the only consistent media and I still had to burn at a max of 2X. Save your money, spend a little more, and just get something better. I recently got a pioneer DVR-107/A07 and it burns every disc I throw at it. You can get the bare drive for around $100...hell it may even be less than that by now.
Look, let me explain something. I'm not Mr. Lebowski; you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. That, or Duder. His Dudeness. Or El Duderino, if, you know, you're not into the whole brevity thing--

IOMagic is either an Optoright DD0401 or a BTC somethin' or other. Open the box and look at the model number. If it is the optoright, you should see model number DD0401 on the sticker. You can't tell anything from the box! My optoright/IOmagic is working just fine.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  4. Is $40 really gonna make or break Noki? Why support a company that will throw varying drives into the same box? Have you even attempted to try their customer support? Good Luck! How many boxes will Noki have to open? I'm sure the store will be pleased to see some guy opening all the boxes of DVD-R drives they have. Usually they are behind a counter, secured with a plastic harness, or in a glass case. I can see it now..."Uhh excuse me sir may open that DVD-R box to see if its the right one?" Noki roll the dice if you want to. Village Idiot...well that name speaks for itself.

Oh no a flame. No sir, you are the idiot. You see, you have to ask them if you can open the box! If not walk out of the store. Simple, just like you.
