  1. Just got a new driver so it can read DVD-Ram from Panasonic DVD recorder. The driver was installed with no problem inside the computer but when I put Ram disc and it does not read so do you think I need to upgrade the version? The current version is 5.0.2183.1.

Please LMK if it need to be upgraded?

    Thanks!

I have the LD GR8162B ROM and it refused to "see" the UDF discs in Windows ME. After my HD crash last week, I put on WinXP Pro so I could use Reel and DVDit! 5 on my main system. Was also nice to have at least 1 NTFS volume (left others FAT32).

    The side effects?
    - SoundBlaster Live 5.1 will not work. Replaced with Turtle Beach Santa Cruz.
    - The LG now see RAM contents in Windows (no need to use ISOBUSTER anymore). Must be an NT thing, 32 cannot see RAM UDF.
    - The dual BIOS (Ultra ATA and motherboard) now talk DMA to each other, and I can use my card ROMs for on-the-fly burns to the motherboard burners. This also improved the LG performance. I had semaphore errors though, had to custom install correct Ultra ATA drivers (TX2 card, WD version, posted this in the COMPUTERS forum here).
    - Able to now max out to 1GB RAM, not something supported by the 64kb resources of Win32.

If you're not on XP ... reluctantly ... I now say it's worth the upgrade. Too many new things require it.

I bet it's your OS causing some of it. I could not get mine to see RAM in 98SE or ME.

  9. I'm surprised that LG did not warn about RAM disc not being read using Win98SE?

Guess I will have to change it to Win 2K.
