Using alcohol 120% im having trouble copying a disk. I can make an image and burn it but when i go to play the copy there are pauses and pixellation in it. Im using orange ritek DVD-R GO4 disks. Ive also tried datasafe disks. Im using a BTC 1008IM burner and i am burning at 4X. Does anyone have any ideas? Should i just try different media until it works. I notice when burning at 4X alcohol keeps an average of 4X and varies slightly above and below. Could this be the problem?

    Thanx

Have you tried the discs in a different standalone player to see if they are OK in a different one ? It could be your DVD player doesn't like them.

Ive tried the discs in both a dansai, a pacific which are good for dvd-r's. Also the disc pauses and sometimes crashes when played again on the computer.
When im going for ritek G04 media, does it make a difference if you use the orange ones (made in taiwan) or the purple ones. Also the computer shop i get the disks from say the datasafe media and bulkpaq are made with ritek G04, will these media all be the same or will there be differences in quality?

  4. try to burn at a slower speed, like 2 or 1x. Even though the media is rated for 4x, you might want to try the lower speed. See if it works.

  5. Hi, don't mean to dis BTC but I had nothing but trouble with pauses, stops etc... Had the drive exchanged to another manufacturer and problems (hope, hope) seem to have stopped.

Not saying it is the drive, but thankfully I have had successful burns since changing. Could also be media. Some players don't like certain media.

    Hope this helps.

    Ok

Ill wait until i try the different media and ill play around with the write speed to see if i can sort it out.
If nothing works i will take the writer back and get a decent one.

    Thanx again
