  1. Hi,

Can anyone help me? I can't figure out how to simply copy a dvd-r? I have a dvd-r with a movie on it and all I want to simply do is copy it. But I can't figure out how to do it.

Is there a special software that I need to use? I currently use Nero to burn my cd's.

Any help greatly appreciate. Thank You!

You select copy entire disc. Then it will burn what it copied.

dvd's are copy protected. there's no way to copy on the fly. no matter what the dvd has to be ripped to your hard drive to break the protection in order to make a backup copy. you might even have to compress the video if its too large. like the other said before me, check out the guides

Yes, but dvd-r's are not. Read the original post.

im havin one of those rare days.

ok, how about this then. what is it doing when your trying to copy it? do you have a dvd rom and a dvd burner? if so just go into nero and do a dvd copy. if you only have a dvd burner, rip the data to your computer. then use nero. do the dvd video in nero and put all the files you ripped to your puter in the VIDEO_TS folder and burn.

    I'm with gitreel:

And, if that don't work, use Windows Explorer to drag all the files from the source DVD-R to your hard drive and then (again, as gitreel alludes to) use Nero to burn the same files, once placed in the VIDEO_TS directory that'll be burned to disc, along with an empty AUDIO_TS directory (I do this just in case - some DVD players look foor both folders to identify a DVD disc).

  13. HI,

THANKS ALL FOR THE REPLY! I HAVE A DVD-BURNER/CD BURNER COMBO, AND THEN A CD-ROM IN THE SECOND BAY OF MY COMPUTER.

I HAVE TRIED COPYING THE ENTIRE DISC AND TELLING IT TO BURN, BUT IT DOESN'T WORK. IT'S SOMETHING I AM DOING WRONG?

I ALSO HAVE READ THE GUIDES AND THEY ALL ARE GIVING WHAT SEEMS TO BE VERY CONFUSING AND DIFFICULT STEPS AND USING DIFFERENT SOFTWARE OTHER THAN NERO.

I think I discovered your problem. Nero will not burn your DVDs because your CAPS-LOCK key is stuck.

  17. The version of Nero is 6.3 the Express Version. And Supreme2K you did not need to post a smart azz remark. I have to remember that using the caps lock is considered shouting when using the net. And I am quite sure the caps lock has nothing to do with NERO. I am not that stupid. Thanks goes out to all those who are sending a reply to help me with this issue. Thank You!

It sounds like you are trying to read a DVD in your cd drive. You cannot do that.

Put the DVD-R in your DVD Burner Open Nere select copy disc , make sure your source and destination are your DVD Burner and hit Burn.
It will copy the disc to your HD then it will spit out the Disc and tell you to insert a blank Disc.

    That's it.

Oh but if your friend used DVDXCopy Express to create the disc then you have problems.

  19. Ok, will try that. Thanks Andyp1. Can I delete those files from the hard drive once I am done burning?

Are you sure its not a DVD Rom / CDRW Combo you have , saying it the way you did is unusual , what is the make and model of your drive.

EDIT the files will automatically be deleted they are only temp files.

That was not a smart ass remark. It is common net etiquette that using all caps is shouting. Punctuation also helps, as it makes things easier to read.

It also helps to break up your sentences.

    OK no problem

Expect it to take about 30 mins in total if it burns at 4X

  24. Gitreel, I did not come here to exchange smart remarks. I simply came here to ask for help!

I do know how to spell, and I did not want to spell out the word "ass" in my earlier reply because of fear of being kicked out for using that sort of language in the forum. Therefore, I used "azz" instead.

Again, I do know that using ALL CAPS is considered SHOUTING when online. And I do apologize.

If you want to keep nagging me about this please do not bother to reply anymore.

If someone else is willing to help me I greatly appreciate it!

No problem. I was just trying to help also. Don't worry about your language though. We say worse than that here. You will too, the more time you spend at this site.

  27. I'm pretty sure AnyDVD can do decryption on the fly. Works with any program to decrypt protected discs.

ummm why use ANYDVD when there are free programs to use to decrypt protected discs. DVD DECRYPTER, SMARTRIPPER & DVD SHRINK are all free software. :P

  30. I just purchased a DVD-ROM to relieve my writer from ripping duties. I've found that I can backup DVD R on the fly (even with both drives on the same IDE channel). This bypasses the step of ripping to the hard drive. However, some members here may question the reliability of this method. Opinions?
