    Hi!

I want to make backups of my DVD's. I have a Philips DVDR70 and a Philips DVD722! When i try to copy from DVD (722) to DVD (DVDR70) via scart or any other cable i get a protection message! I have to mention that it is legal to make backups of your own DVD's where i live! (Sweden)
What can i do to get around this? Use a Macrovision Killer that "kills" the Macrovision and CGMS (Copy Generation Management System) protection? I don't want to copy, convert and burn on PC - to much to do! I just want it easy!

As i said before, it's legal to do backup on your own (bought) movies in Sweden, so several stores sell MVision Killer!
MVision Killer+ (also removes the CGMS - Copy Generation Management System)

MVision Killer+ chip (x2 in the box above - one for in, and one for out)

    Is this the solution?

  2. I hear the Sonel Macro Master Pro works pretty well. Do a google search.

However, I'd be curious to know if anyone here has used the Sonel and the results..

Yes, in order to record commercial DVDs to your standalone DVD recorder, you need to disable both Macrovision and CGMS-A, so you need the IMVision Killer+ model to achieve that. You only need to disable Macrovision if recording to a VCR or just pass through the signal to TV.

Download the pdf file from the following link to learn more regarding the MV and CGMS-A:
