  3. The odds of a power failure breaking your burner are very slim (but not impossible).

I think a more probable reason is the files on your hard drive were corrupted. Were the other 4 DVDs just the same thing tried multiple times, or were you trying to burn different files?

    My apologies

If it’s saying the burn completed, you got me stumped. I was thinking you could not complete it since the power outage. Have you tried playing the disk on your computer?

What you're going to have to do is get the laser in your burner back to the exact position it was at when the power tripped off and then shove a paperclip or something in that little pokey-hole on the front of the drive as you hit the reset button on your computer. If you can't get the laser alligned in the exact position it was then this won't work, you are hopelessly screwed and your burner will never work again.

    I also sell bridges.

For a start, use an RW disc next time. Perhaps you should try re-installing your burning program(s).

Well way back in the day they used to use little miniature gnomes inside DVD burners and they had little tiny hammers and chisels that were magical and were able to penetrate the polycarbonate substrates and alter the surface of the reflective layers beneath without damaging and scratching the discs all to shit, but the little gnomes were all alcololics and wouldn't always show up to work. This is far too unacceptable for consumers so the DVD manufacturers had to come up with something better. That's why instead of little drunken gnomes they now use miniature Jedi knights with little laser light sabres. That's where the shoving the paperclip through the pokey-hole thing and hitting the reset button comes into play. You see, every once in a while when the power inside your drive trips, the little Jedi inside your burner crosses over to the dark side. And as long as you've got a miniature dark lord of the Sith lurking inside your burner, you're gonna have problems. What you have to do is impale him with a wire like a straightened paper clip. Hitting the reset button when you do this distracts him and betters your chances of defeating him as the lights go out momentarily and you can sometimes get the drop on him.
