  1. Hey,
I am trying to put chapters in VCD using VCD Easy last free version. I am following each and every step provided in Sefy's guide. I was able to make great VCD earlier, but after I upgraded my Nero to 6, I have no idea what has changed, but I am not able to make VCDs with VCDeasy.
What error I got? Nothing. VCD Easy complete successfully and create bin image and when I burn that image using Nero 6, I end up creating a CD which shows nothing in Windows explorer and does not show anything when put in DVD player. I can't write the CD again also.
Is there anyone who can guess what could be wrong? Is it anything to do with many software I installed and uninstalled before finalizing VCD Easy? Please help and answer something, any suggestion will be helpful
    Thanks, in advance

You've pretty much already answered your own question:

I made a lot of coasters by upgrading to Nero v6.x. I downgraded to v5.x and all is well again. Nero v6.x is well known for being riddled with bugs.

  3. I will downgrade my Nero and try with that. But what could be wrong with Nero 6?

Unless you need something specific to Nero v6.x I'd stick with v5.x until they iron out all the problems. There aren't that many things that they added that you'd need if all you want to do is to burn CDs/DVDs - v5.x still functions perfectly well.

  5. Thanks Josef,
I tried with Nero 5.5 and it worked just fine, I was under impression that Nero is very good software and I didn't know about buggy Nero 6. Thanks for your help.

Glad to hear it. I forgot to mention one other solution (kludgy workaround). If you have other burning software but you need to master a CD/DVD to burn, then you could still use Nero, even a non-successfully-burning version.

What you'd have to do would be to master the disc and, in Nero, from the menu Choose Recorder and select Image File. Then when you go to burn as normal, Nero will pop up a Save File dialogue where you can choose to save your compilation. I did this for a short while until I found that I'd have to revert to a previous version of Nero. I'd 'burn' my compilation to an image and burn it for real using Alcohol. The only downside to this method is that you need twice as much HD space and your burning app must support one of the image types that Nero creates.

  7. Personally I would prefer using VCDEasy for Creating the image and Burning instead of using Nero to burn. I found VCDEasy to be more compatible with it's VCD authoring and provides faster burns then Nero does.
