I have a Sony DCR-TRV345E. It records at 720x576 and 16bit stereo. This is DVD quality as far as I know.
But I think it would be more then fine to have "just" SVCD quality for my holiday movies/recordings, when putting it on a DVD. This way I can fit far more on one DVD.
I use Premiere Pro. But how can I put high and low quality parts on one DVD?
Is this possible?

I'm not sure if your sony can change it's recording settings but if it can then change it to 352*576. this is a valid dvd resolution. If you can't change the settings on the sony then the only other thing i can think of is to reencode and change the setting that way.
Hopefully somebody will give you a more technical answer.
