problems making chapters out of vob file using dvdlab...

Hi,
I've searched around and haven't been able to figure out this problem yet. Here's the problem:
a friend of mine captured stuff off tv and put it on dvds. I want to get rid of the commercials. I have a rather complicated process i do, because dvdlab doesn't demux my vobs correctly...What i've done is :
using dvdshrink 3.1, i clip the parts of the tv show i want. then i copy to my hard drive and put those parts into a folder.
next, i use vobmerge to create one big vob out of each show.
then i demux the audio (ac3) and video in vobedit.
then i use ifoedit to combine the vobs back up again.
then i create a menu with chapters using dvdlab and use the final vob from ifoedit.
it seems a lot of work to begin with, but once i'm done, the dvd plays ok with just a menu and movies without chapters. the problem is, when i go to fastforward, it starts fastforwarding fine for a few seconds, but then it stops and the movie starts back over. the other big thing is, whenever i create chapters, the dvd will not play. i don't even have to be chosing a chapter, but will just press start movie and the dvd will not play...any ideas how to fix this? any ideas about shortening my dvd-dvdr process would be appreciated also. thanks so much

let dvd lab mux the audio and video for you.
