  1. First problem was with my backup of kill bill v1 when i picked just dts audio, it would not have audio when played in my standalone sony. the standalone has dts decoding and the subtitles worked too. I then redid the copy with ac3 5.1 and that eventually produced audio. I have chosen the dts audio before but this is the first time that no audio was present. I went and checked the actual backup and it shows up as having dts audio. powerdvd would also have no audio. strange.

the second problem was with my backup of unfaithful. it produced "playback prohibited by area limitations" error. Checked decrypter and the settings were correct for region (checked a dvd backup produced after unfaithful and that worked). anyone ever encounter this issue with a dvd purchased and backed up in the area they played? I use ritek g04s and these are the only 2 weird problems i have encountered in over several months. any ideas? or just chalk it up to random weird chance?

1st problem - Do you have your Sony hooked up to DTS enabled amp? I don't think DVD players downsample DTS into stereo so if you play it back on a stereo tv it won't work (I think)

2nd problem - RCE. Did you specify remove RCE in DVD Decrypter?

    Think that's right now

  3. 1st - that may be the problem, but will verify by having a friend with a complete dts setup try and play it. Any audio buffs out there know if it'll play stereo on a tv?

2nd - yup, rce is checked to be removed. never had this problem before or afterwards. made me freak out thinking i didn't remove the rce protection, but all the backups afterwards are fine.

My hacked Apex ad-1500 will downmix dts to stereo direct to tv or amp but apparently many won't. I think they casn be bought prety cheap on line e.g. e-bay.

Very few do as it wasn't in the original specs to do this, and because it took a while for DTS to take off on discs anyway.
