  1. I have tried numerous programs to take my mpeg to DVD and am a bit stumped.

All I want is to create a DVD. No editing no fancy stuff. I have found that the quickest is Nerovision Express which does a "transcode".

Whereas every program I have tried other than Nerovision seems to take FOREVER to burn the DVD. Even Ulead VS8 takes forever even when the "do not convert compliant" switch is turned on...

What am I missing here? Why bother makign an mpeg prior to burnign if it just gets reencoded again anyway?

    Thanks,
    Bob

The difference is quality. A transcode is inferior to a full re-encode. You can encode to MPEG2 and avoid re-encoding provided you encode to DVD specs in the first case.
    If in doubt, Google it.
