  1. I'm using Pinnacle Studio 8 to capture video from my MicroMV. I set it to the right option, and it captures it okay sometimes, but other times after it has "Captured" the video off of my MicroMV, it freezes on "Detecting scenes from video file". Any suggestions?

I know the original version of studio 8 had a few problems from what I read and experienced. There's a update, if you haven't already done so I would install it. I know the few times I have used it that it would crash as soon as I ran it, then it would work on the second try. Matter of fact that was my first experience with video editing, launching Studio 8 and having it crash. Once I installed the update it only crashed once I think.

Another thought, isn't scene detection optional?

  3. I installed the update and it worked once when I did a test to capture 5 minutes of video. Once I tried the whole tape, it froze during the whole scene detection thing. I checked all the different settings and wasn't able to find a place to disable scene detection.

After all is said and done, I'm getting frustrated at the MicroMV camcorder. I am planning on getting a new one in the next week or so, but need to get all the tapes I currently have onto my computer so I can burn them to DVD.

-Pinnacle Studio has consistently crashed on me
-MovieShaker is choppy and the sound goes in and out
-Ulead Video Studio gives me horribly choppy picture.

Does anyone know any other software that will do this right? Does Adobe Premiere support MicroMV? Please help.

For the record, my hardware specs are:
    AMD 3200+
    1 GB RAM
    120 GB HD (7200 RPM)
40 GB HD (Speed unknown) - This is where I am putting the files, though I've tried both HDs

P.S. Anyone who is looking into buying a MicroMV, look again. I've heard and read countless times that the DV Camcorders are a thousand times better for putting on DVD, etc...

  5. Got it, thanks. With MicroMV, it automatically grays it out.
