I've been playing with DVDRemaster and really like it. In fact I think I like it better than DVD2OneX

    Or All-in-One DVD Backup:
    FastDVDCopy ($80-100)

The shrinkers (DVD2OneX and DVDRemaster) are also pay-ware, as is Toast, but they offer much more functionality and customizability than the All-in-one solution.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté."

  5. Mac the Ripper or DVD Backup for ripping....

    DVDONEX for compressing

    Toast for Burning

Tutorials are a good start as they have been created by people that ran the gamut looking for the best in everything! Hope this helps!

Nooooo!! Heresy! NO bad words against our beloved dvd2onex!

Seriously, what's to like about it? I've had nothing but abysmal results with DVDRemaster. Not merely lower overall quality than dvd2onex, but major visual bugs (especially green lines smeared across menus, multiple one second freezes in video where the entire screen is covered by random macroblocks). Granted I've only tried it on 2 seperate DVDs (used requantize and downsize on both of them), but I had the same errors on both discs. dvd2onex handles both just fine but as they are both very long the video quality was too VCD-like.

I ran Resident Evil through it and it looked ever bit as good as when I ran it through DVD2OneX. The main difference was time. On my computer DVDRemaster only took ~30min while DVD2OneX took ~1hr. When they look the same time is important.

Ah well if you're only referring to the downsizing mode then perhaps they aren't too different (although my early tests, with version 1.1 or something, I still thought dvd2onex was slightly better).

My major green lines and screenfuls of blocks were with the requantize mode. And it took 28 hours to produce! (7.5+GB discs)
