  1. What is happening? I make 4GB of MPEG-2 files and Nero changes it to less than 2GB when burning a DVD. That never happened with SVCD. At least I never noticed it happening.
Nero 6 is now being used on a PIKA ONE 8x DVD dual drive. It's working nicely, but at this rate it'll take another week to get enough video to fill just one DVD fully.
Hi-8mm video is being captured at 640 x 480 with 44k/16/s and made into MPEG-2 files with the same using bbMPEG or TMPGEnc older version. Nero changes them to 704 and I don't know about the audio but it plays.

Do you have Nero Vision Express (part of Nero 6)? Try dropping the original output files directly into it and see what happens.

  3. Hey, Nero took them and burnt a DVD. I did not have to use bb or TMpgenc nero made the mpeg2 file. I did not know it was inclulded. However, the PC crashed during the process.

Did you end up with a working DVD though? For some, Nero does present a few problems. I've had great luck with the latest Nero 6 Ultra 6316-NVE 2129, and have found it to work well, you can pretty much do everything you need without the need of other programs or much tecnical knowledge, It also ouputs Dolby 2 (although except for the small file size doesn't sound all that great on my rig). You might try outputing NVE's output to a file first, then burning it in Burning Rom.

You may want to try VCDGear (a very handy freeware app). It has an mpeg-> mpeg option you could try first, checking it's 'fiix MPEG errors' option. It's also a great app for extracting mpeg files directly from bin/cue VCD/SVCD files.

Some people have reported that crashing can be sometimes be cured with having the right codecs installed.... but sometimes installing the right codecs can be difficult.
