  1. Hi Guys, relatively new to this forum_ so be gentle if I ask basic questions. I never look after my audio CD’s in my car, never put them in a case just dump into the centre console with my keys etc etc- and of course they get scratches.

A simple question: When I make copies of my originals CD’s they have a skipping error when played in my car CD player? About 10 sec into the track (all tracks) - it skips. I assume this is copyright protection? I am using Nero 6.3.0.3 to burn on a Lite-On (LDW-411S) DVD/CD burner. Works fine on my DVD player in the home. I have removed protection by right clicking on the tracks. I have also tried copy entire disc. TRied using 80 CD and 74min CD (some said car player don read 80 min discs) My understanding is can backup audio disc for this purpose. Car player is a Mitisubi Lancer with a Clarion CD player? Any thoughts?

    Welcome to the forum.

If your CDs play perfeclty on your DVD player but not in your car CD player, most likely it is either your Car CD player does not like burnt CDs at all or it just doesn't like the brand of CD you are using at the moment. I have had my Clarion CD player for 4 years using TDK whites ($30 for 50 @ target) without a problem.

You are asking for trouble if you let your CDs get scratched, though.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. The Burn CD plays fine on DVD player at home. I have tried 3 different types of media (both in 80min and 74min) and different brands. My car CD player (Clarion) plays older burnt CD’s just fine. I’ll never get use to using original CD’s and them placing them neatly back into the correct cover…….I fear I’m doomed to listen to the radio. I’ll try the TDK whites…but I think the newer Albums use a new copyright code to prevent copies (which is fine by me) but stops backups of original CD’s. Thanx for tip. ……….Errrrrrrrr

I do the same as you and copy the originals for use in the car, because it is inevitable that they will get scratched.

You say that older burnt CDs work OK, what brand are they ? Why don't you keep using that brand ? Have you tried extracting the songs to MP3 and creating your own music CD as opposed to doing a disc copy ?

I have not come across a music CD yet that was not copyable in some way, shape or form.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. Hummm, Yes I am beginning to think the best way is to rip to WAV or MP3 (assuming the copyright code is removed in either or both of the header information of those file formats) - then re-encode into an Audio CD again. Of course the loss of HQ sound in MP3 will be un_funny.....Thanx for input

i would try burning at a slower speed first, 12x if possible or 16x

if that doesnt work try using a cd-rw. lasers react differently to different type of media, something about the way they reflect off the cd

  7. My factory CD player in my car plays 90/99minute Ritek CD's fine so I think the problem is media brand or the discs are damaged, the organic dye in CD-R's are sensitive to heat and sunlight.
