  1. Ok, i have some anime files(.avi) with subtitles that im trying to put a few together and burn onto a dvd+r. I tried using this guide but somethings is screwed up. I think it's my files. I loaded the 1st file in virtualdub and when i try to append it with the 2nd, it says they are different formats. they are both .avi but i might be missing something. they both play in wmp. I tried using vegas 4.0 to join them and the first file loads, but the 2nd one only has audio, it says stream attributes could not be determined. So i compared the properties of both files and the 1st one says video sample size:24bit and video compression is DivX Codec while the 2nd file doesnt show those fields. thats the only difference that i can see in the files, is there a way to fix this please??

  2. AVI files must be encoded the same way to join in vdub, so its best for you to encode the files separately and rather join them when authoring the DVD.

  3. ok, so what format do they have to be in when authoring(i've never got to that stage yet). so If I put each file through DVD2SVCD, what output should I put, or should i find a different guide and not use DVD2SVCD because the output is always a .cue file.

  4. If yuou want to play the files on a standard dvd player it must be mpeg2 video. DVD2SVCD can output to DVD, use the m2v files for video. The audio might be a problem with that proggy, it is for SVCD so the audio is 44100 instead of 48000 samplerate. I think you should look in the guides, look to the left for "all guides", lots of guides for AVI to DVD.

The other problem with DVD2SVCD is that the SVCD resolution isn't DVD compliant. You can change the script before it begins encoding but I'd just assume not use it at all. You're better off just using whatever encoder you have set up for DVD2SVCD to work with(TMPGEnc, Cinema Craft Encoder, or Canopus Procoder).

  6. Yes, the resolution must be changed, you find it under the Frameserver tab, choose CVD or DVD.
