i have all of these avi files that i want to put on a dvd so they can be watched on a dvd player. i tried encoding them to mpegs and then to dvd. dont remember what i used i think tmpgenc dvd author. but any ways i made menus so that i can click on the movie i want to watch and i got 3 movies on one dvd. well on one dvd player it worked. but on others it doesn't. but when i burn a vcd it works no problem. i want to be able to play my moviez on all dvd players. what can i do. i tried taking my dvd a friends so we can watch a movie on his computer and all the are is ifo's. so it wouldn't run. also under audio_ts and video_ts there is no files. and then there is level 1, level 2 ... 5. those have my ifos in there. one level for on movie and the other for another one. i took the mpegs in tmpgenc and added them then created menu and then made a burn image. then burned it with nero. someone please help me. thanks alot.

WOW, you are asking about a million and one questions there.
Read the guides here, start from scratch, backing up one movie and then read how to do more than one on a disc.

my main question is that i burned a dvd with tmpgenc dvd author and it has mult vcds on it. and it doesn't play on all dvd players. if you have a dvd author guide for mult vcds can you tell me them or if you know personally help me. thanks

Not all players support dvd-r's, it could be that the player does not like the type of disc, speed at which it was created or maybe the player does not even have the capability to play that type of disc.
Experiment with different media and or burning speeds. -
well if it played vcds no problem that i made then why wouldn't it play a dvdr maybe b/c its not in mpegs its in ifos?

A dvd goes on a DVD and a VCD a CD, DVD is MPEG 2 VCD is MPEG 1. Have you checked the compatability of your player in the writers section on the left ?
-
lets put it this way, your asking the impossible, to created a burned dvd that will play on all players, that is simply not possible, the range of players out there are enormous and far from all of them support playback of burned dvd media + a lot of them are extremely picky when it comes to brand of media.
VCD's are often a more compatible format, special when it comes to cheaper models of dvd players
Also, check with the manufacture of your dvd burner, what medea do they recomend to use etc.
i'm sorry this is not much help i'm afraid, just the awfull thruth
and btw tmpgenc dvd auther can burn dvds directly, at least that works for me
