I have tried twice to burn vob files onto a dvd-rw with no luck. It says it failed. Then I used a dvd-r and no problem, it is successful.

I would like to burn onto dvd-rws first to ensure my project worked.

    Any ideas?

It may be the brand of media you are using. Check it against your burner in the DVD Media database at left.

    Hi

I am using a brand new dvd-rw disc.

My dvd player takes both dvd-+r and -+rw.

    I am using a Verbatim DVD-RW disc.

  5. Try a full erase first. Try a different brand.

I dont know anything at all about dvd blank disks, but my friend had a similar problem, so thought I would share hoping it may help you, they purchased -r when their reader only read +r, I dont know if this is the same with dvd-rw's but it may be worth a check.

  8. Have you formatted the RW disk first with your software?

If using Nero and InCD just open "My Computer" and right click on the DVD writer drive then choose "InCd Format". I am using XP, so not sure if same operation under earlier windows.
You will need to Format (not erase) the disk before use.

No, he won't need to format.

He said he was burning VOB files (DVD-Video) not packet-writing!

    Thanks everyone.

I will try a different type of dvd-rw and see how that works. I tried it with the same type of media on 2 different computers with dvd burners and no luck.

  12. Sorry, my lack of understanding. I always thought that a RW disk had to be formatted.
    My apologies.

Does your burner (and player for that matter) work with +RW?
If so I would recommend trying 1 of them, I prefer +RW as they don't have to be erased, data gets written over the top of last burn, less time consuming in my experience.
Then again I haven't had any trouble with -rw or +rw thus far.

I've used 2 different NEC ND-1300A's on 2 different PC's, also 2 different Nero versions. One is more up to date, one is about an 8 month old revision. Neither system will burn DVD-RW or DVD+RW. Its a bit annoying but Ive successfully burnt RW discs using DVD Decrypter, TMPGEnc DVD Author's burning utility, and Prassi Primo/Record Now Max, so basically...avoid Nero and you'll be fine

  16. have NEC 1300a w_1.06 factory firmware...have nero 5.5.10.42. burns DVD+RWs just fine. have not attempted DVD-RWs.
