I haven't tried it, but somehow I don't think that's a good idea. The chemicals in the paint may harm the disc and an added layer of paint may cause playback issues because of weight and balance.

I suggest getting blank top DVDRs- silver shiny, matte, or white printable etc. About half of the DVDRs you can buy online are blank top. Not only will this be easier but you won't have paint flakes in on your DVD players' laser.

Of course, if you are the artsy type, paint away!

Thought about using color markers? Maybe on label-less, silver top discs or on the Mac looking, white Princos. I wouldn't use markers on ink printables though, I was told the ink may bleed over time.

  4. bad idea
why would you want to cover logos

i got some cheap vcds in cyprus a couple of years ago and they had shit quality paint on top
i think they were done in a factory but they looked awful and when the paint started to peel off some of the writing surface came off with it
had to open my cd drive and clean it with a hoover pipe

i have used a few sticky labels and have never encountered them peeling off some of these labels arre on cdrw disks which are 4 years + old and have been written to 100+ times as they are used for backup of documents utilities etc

why dont you try better quality labels if your set on covering the disk with something

doh, missread the question. Sorry. I would just leave them as is and just wright on the tops. If you think the logos look bad and don't like labels then I suggest just looking into blank ones. ...Maybe lables will stick better to them, don't know....

You can use a water based marker without having to worry about bleeding.

Don't you think it will throw the balance off using paint? That thing may start shaking like a wet dog in the DVD player..
