ok. i already ripped the vobs to my hd. i paln to use dvd2avi to convert these to avi but i want them to be risized into 320x240 only. how?

dvd2avi can't resize.
You need dvd2avi-> VFAPI CONV 1.04 -> VirtualDub.
First create the dvd2avi project file (d2v), then open that in VFAPIConv, convert it to a "avi"
Open that avi in VirtualDub, select video-> filters->add-> resize.
