  1. I have a Pioneer 106 DVD RW and have started experiencing problems. My problem is, after burning a DVD movie the movie will not play back or it freezes, this happens on every disc I burn. So I sent the drive back thinking it was faulty, but it was sent back to me saying they have tested the drive and that there is nothing wrong with the drive, that it must be my system.
I have tride formating my system but I still get the same problem unable to play back any DVDs burnt with this drive. I have had the drive 8 months now without any problems till recently, I have been using the same software and the same sort of Blank DVD media on the same system since I have had the drive and have had no problems with these untill recently. The software I used most was clone DVD I have also used other softare to see if they would work but I still get the same problem. I have tride verious things to try and find out wat is causing this problem. The only thing I have discovered is that the files are fine when the are copyed to the hard drive. The problem seems to accure while the files are been written to the DVD Disc. The only change I have made to my system is conecting it to a network, conecting my computer to another computer, I have been told that this can't be the problem, I have now produced ten causters through this and can't afford to keep producing causter after causter. Does anybody know what could be causing this problem. I would be greatful for any help in solving this.

    where does it freeze up?
my guess is crappy media. Media can be of varying quality even from the same brand.
Try Verbatim 4x DVD-r for reference. They should work flawlessly.

My first suggestion is to buy a RW disc. Are you trying these out on a standalone player or a computer, or both? Have you tried them on at least a couple of other players? Sometimes when I have burned a DVD that has a problem, it turns out that it's ok on another player, and as a previous post said, it could be crappy media.

  4. Thanks, I have tride Datawrite Reds and Bulpaq, and have played them back on my standalone DVD Player and on the PC using several DVD Player softwares and still they won't play back, on the PC the DVD Player software crashes when I try to play them. They can freez in verious points of the film.
I have also opened up the explore on the disc and viewed each individual file. I have opened up some of the files and some of them will play fine and others will crash the DVD Player software.
I have tride writing to a Datawrite DVDRW disc and that has the same problem.

  5. ....maybe go to staples and buy another type burner and see if it burns everything the right way ...they have a 14 day return policy.

...turn on task mangager and make sure programs you have running in the background are not taking up alot of resources... I had 2 programs running that took up between 40-90 percent resourses in cycles and that can screw up your burn.

burn a disc at 2x and see if that works.

    check media

reload windows and get latest drivers

    run virus program

put the drive in your other computer and see if it works

These are just some things that pop into my mind as trouble-shooting stuff.
