Discussing SED dsiplays, news to me!

Basically they form three electron guns for each pixel, with your normal three phosphors! it's to all intents and purposes a flat CRT, that consumes less than half the wattage of a plasma!

gone on my christmas list for sure!

  2. That sounds damned expensive. Apart from the power consumption, what's the advantage of one of those over a decent TFT monitor?

I bought my Sharp 17" TFT at Christmas time, it's way better than my CRT because it fits into my shoebox.... I mean, room.... better. It's going to be a long while before I can afford another one like it!

well for one black is black on a system like that, no evil backlight required. the main application will be for home theatre displays, 40" and up, where LCD has problems going. Would be good connected to a PC though, decent image editing in a small space!
