I have still been stummped on my copy of Animatrix. I read the other posts, but never got a final answer. My tools have been:
dvdbackup v. 1.3
DVD2oneX v. 1.3
Toast titanium
I have the same problem others have, and the remedies posted didn't help. I have already gone through all the menus and let each chapter run for about 5 seconds to get the chapter log. I still get the error message saying it couldn't decrypt the menu (0 I think) and asks me to stop or skip it. I also tried the pasting the extra chapters into the Video Folder with no avail. Anyone have any new info to help? I'm out of ideas. Thanks for any help in advance-

There are newer and better rippers which do not require playing the DVD before ripping it. They have given me greater success on my DVDs than DVDBaxkup and OSeX ever have. They are MacTheRipper and Yade X. Give them a try and get back to us.

I have heard great things about MTR and will be trying it within the hour, thanks! (Also, I am only running OSX- that's cool right ( I noticed some of the other posts were going back and forth w/ os9 and x.) I'll get the MTR for OSX and give it a whirl then post my results after. Thanks again!

you can also try YadeX
but i know for a fact MTR handled my Animatrix DVD with no problems -
Mac the ripper stikes again! Yep, it worked perfect. I got everything perfect and it looks great.
Here is one question for you guys...
I am looking forward to (like all of you) DVD 9. I figured since it takes so long to rip the dvd's I wouldn't want to re-do them all over again when dvd9s are out, and though they still look great after DVD2ONEX, I want them in their complete state.
After I make a backup from (Mactheripper or DVDbackup), should I take what's inside that folder and split it up into two simply by dragging half the contents (in size) to another folder and burn them as data dvd's? Then when it is time to DVD-9 them, just paste the contents back into one backup folder and burn it off in toast? (Or whatever dvd-9 burning app there is?) Will that work or are there invisible or hidden files that won't copy over? (Or maybe a better way to do this?) Thanks everyone.
Oh, and is there any idea about how long before dvd-9 is on the market (even estimates will give me a better idea than now (no idea at all). Thanks everyone in this community for helping a guy out. Peace -
Splitting the files across two data DVDs would work perfectly, and is the only solution for backing up DVD-9 content to DVD-R with all their quality and menu setup intact at this point. There are no hidden files or hoops you have to jump through, as long as the file and folder hierarchy is the same as on the original DVD. Glad MTR was able to solve your problem.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté." -
Yeah, Thank YOU! I just found out that you are one of the people to thank for making the app! I just used it for the first time, as you read, and it worked great. I wanted to say thanks for the hard work and if you need some help or something (running some disks I have and trying to encode or something- let me know and I'll give you results asap)- I buy a lot of dvds! Peace and thanks again.
Oh, one more question... once a DVDr has been burned from toast, (a smaller one disk (4gig), can I just simply drag the files from my burned disk to make more copies later, or do I need to burn another data disk and then re-MTR that copy? Thanks (if that question didn't make sence- I'm sure I can figure it out w/ some DVD-RW's!Thanks again for the killer app!

Is that your webpage? or is it my browser? (do you have it in PDF like the beginner tutorial that I can download somewhere or email to me?) Thanks!
