If this has been covered before I'm sorry, I can't find it in the LVD thread.
I am trying to play a Xvid formated .avi file that comes with english subtitles. The subtitles are in .sub and .idx (?) files. All files have exactly the same name. I burned all three to a data disk and the video and audio play fine but no subtitles. Even if I press the subtitle button on the remote.
The subtitles work on my PC using nero show time and Windows Media Player.
Does the LVD-2002 play subtitles included with .avi files in this fashion?
Do I have to burn them directly into the image somehow? Or mux them - what ever that is.
Thanks for helping with this

The subtitles must be in *.srt
you can put more then one
example:
Matrix.avi
Matrix.srt
Matrix_Spanish.srt
If you have the subtitles en other format you need
to convert to SRT (SubRip Format)
SubAjust (Is a good convertion Tool) to convert *.sub to *.srt
http://www.divx-digest.com/software/subadjust.html
And a programan called SubRip to convert *.idx to *.srt
http://www.divx-digest.com/software/subrip.html
You can adjust the time of the subtitles with the control
use LEFT RIGHT ENTER keys -
Yes, I also noticed, name of your secondaru subs has to have exactly same first part of the name as your avi, otherwise it will not be seen.
So where:
Matrix.avi
Matrix.srt
and
Matrix_spanish.avi
will work with no problem
spanish_Matrix.avi
will not be recognised
I am still looking for way to do the same on DVD-R
so far, if I put movies and subs in separate directories, sub don't work!
if I burn it without folders, all in root, then I could only have max 3 movies with double subs, as soon as I add one more subs become invisible!
Has anyone had same problem? -
Frit, I don't understand what you're saying.
Do you mean that, if you put the movie and its subs together in a folder, then the subs don't work?
I would think the best approach would to make a folder for each movie, in the folder would be the movie and the subs....does this not work? Are you saying everything has to be burned at the root for for subs to work? -
Yes, at least that didnt worked for me.
First I had, lets say 5 folders for each movie, and I would put subs that go with the movie in the same folder, but they were not readable.
As soon as I put same movies with same subs directly in the root player could see them, even multiple subs for the same movie as long as they had same first part of the name as the movie.
I didn't try to put subs in one folder and movies in second yet...
