  1. I recently installed the btwincap drivers for my bt878 hauppauge card. It worked fine (except that winTV2k doesn't perform). I decided to uninstall those drivers and return to the standard hauppauge WDM drivers. However, although winTV2k now works again, VirtualDub will not permit capture.

The error dialogue boxes are (when I attempt to Capture AVI):

    Video Device already in use

    (it isn't)

Error 418: capture device was not detected

VirtualDub cannot connect to the desired capture driver. Trying all available drivers

PANIC: VirtualDub cannot connect to any capture drivers!

(The program then returns to the standard VD application)

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Ever try system restorein window? I installed a video software, didn't like it, uninstall and my tmpgenc do not run well. After trying diff things, lastly, I restore my system with window. The program runs fine since then.

    Good luck.

Did you uninstall using the BTwincap installer?

That is the way to get rid of it.

If you uninstalled it with the control panel device manager then try the installer again and select uninstall this time around.

  4. Thanks for your advice people.

I did use the btwincap instaler - first to install - and then uninstall the drivers. The problem seems to be VirtualDub not recognising the return of the hauppauge WDM driver.

I've tried removing VD and reinstalling - but it still doesn't recognise the WDM driver.

Well you do realize that VirtualDub only works with VFW drivers. You can use WDM but only with a "wrapper" and even then you take a big hit performance wise unless you got a really fast computer then it shouldn't be so noticeable.

  6. I'm not sure why it worked before btwincap was installed but not now. As I said - I used the btwincap installer to remove everything then installed the hauppauge WDM drivers. Surely that would return the system as before the btwincap install?

VirtualDub worked on my machine prior to installing btwincap.
