Good Day Gentlemen , and of course any ladies what are in the house

I have been looking at Standalone dvd recorders and want to know if it is feasable to do the same thing using my pc , i have a fair new pc and of course a dvd burner, so is there anyone here that has been able to record directley from a video input ( through their tv card ) directley onto a dvd in real time? and if there is what kinda quality they was getting and any problems they encountered with this , thanks for your help
