    Hi stackner,

Use ffmpeggui to load up your AVI and convert the audio part of it to AC3 (192 - 256 kbps should be OK - less will degrade sound, more is no real gain).

Use TMPGEnc to encode the AVI to the video elementary stream, resulting in an .m2v file (the video part of MPEG).

Then, in your DVD authoring tool, bring in the video part and combine with your AC3 audio file.

I do this in TMPGEnc DVD Author (the version prior to AC3 support) and it works just fine.

    Hope that helps.

You can't use TMPGEnc Plus to encode to ac3, but if you encode your avi into video and audio streams you can convert the audio into ac3 with the plugin on it's own.

First of all I'm asuming it's this plug in you've got?
    http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tsp_ac3.html

You will need to register it to have the AC3 encode option for the plugin

After inatallation you will find a TMPGEnc Soundplayer folder in the Pegasys program folder. Run the TMPGEncSoundplayer.exe executable and click on the encode button (top left somewhere). Drag your audio files into the main window and, providing you have a registered version, select the AC3 plugin from the list and click on encode.

I've only tried this with WAV files but I assume it should work with MPA as well.

    Good luck!

Ah well, I hadn't tried it. thanks for that.

Looks like the only option is it encode to m2v/pcm and then encode the pcm(wav) to ac3...

(don't you just love initials... )..
