    I tried to play a Svcd on my quite cheap dvd player, but i could just see the movie but there was no sound. I don`t have this problems when i play vcd`s so i don`t think its an CD-R problem.

    what else might be the problem?

    Unfortunately, I don't have an answer - but it's happening to me as well. I have a Phillips 711, that has been hacked with the universal remote. Any help out there? I'm dyin' here....
